I found this in my house...

last night. It was right before I was going to bed. Owen was at school and Graham asleep in his bed. I flipped on the light in my closet and saw this scurry across the floor...it paused in plain sight and it was HUGE. I panicked and hurried and called OJ. He didn't answer so I put my tennis shoes on ( just in my underwear) and grabbed a shoe and peeked in the closet. It was still there. I tried OJ again, and again, and again until he answered. In tears I told him what I found...his reply?

"Well, kill it"
"HOW? It is HUGE!"
"Just be quick and you'll get it."
"But if I miss it will be roaming around our house."
"If you don't try it will be roaming around our house."

But when I went back to try the evil thing was already out of sight. So I did the most rational thing and called OJ back.

"It's gone, what should I do?"
"Go to bed."
"Are you kidding me? I can't go to bed, with that thing crawling around our house."
"Turn the lights on in our room, they don't like light".

So I sat on our bed with the lights on, with a shoe right next to me.

He promised me he would stop and get spray and traps and that he wouldn't leave for China today until he found it and killed it.

I finally fell asleep.

He didn't find it. But he did spray and put the traps out. He still left for China.

Its just me, Graham, and the evil cockroach.

Pray for me.

Temple Open House.

We were able to go to the Oquirrh Mountain Temple open house before OJ flew back to HK. It was absolutely beautiful! We then took a drive through Daybreak. We've driven through before but after living in HK for a year it was like seeing it with fresh eyes. Yards, beautiful homes, a lake, playgrounds, new schools? A little "pleasantville" esqe. "Does this really exist?" :) We enjoyed our self-guided tour.
And can I just give a shout out about the free cookies after the open house? Delicious.

All that green grass...heaven!

Girls Night Out.

I had a girls night out with my in-laws before I left Utah. We had a great dinner at The Cheesecake Factory followed by a movie, "The Proposal". I haven't laughed that hard in a long, long time...I mean tears streaming down my face. It was such a good night. I needed it. I wish we could do it more often. :) Thanks girls!

The Zoo.

We spent a great day at the zoo with cousins. Oh how Graham loves his cousins. He couldn't get enough. Every time we had to leave them he would cry and cry. He latched onto Addy the first day so for the rest of the trip every cousin was "Addy". :)

Looking at the elephants...Graham enthusiastically doing his own sign for elephant.
Oliver and Claire taking a break for snacks.
Calvin
Miki and Addy
This was during the bird show. I LOVE Oliver's faces in the following pictures. Nevermind that Oliver has seen the show a bajillion times or the fact that he had it memorized. It is still exciting. :)

Sweet baby London. Graham was loving the babies on this trip.

Typhoon #1

We had our first Typhoon of the season. Saturday night we woke up around 2 to crazy rain and wind outside. We were wishing we had taped our windows. Luckily nothing happened, but it did make me a little nervous for awhile. We didn't get much sleep that night. We kept checking the weather early that morning. (In hopes that church might be cancelled :) But no, everything calmed down. We got ready and left but had to stop to document the damage! :)

Our last minute trip...

Did you think we disappeared? Well we did. :) At the end of May we decided to take a last minute trip to Utah. As in we decided 1 week before we left. What can we say, we like to keep life exciting. OJ came for two weeks and then left us and we stayed for about another 2 weeks. Then my sister flew back with Graham and I and stayed for 10 days here in Hong Kong and we went crazy sight seeing. She just left this morning and now we are in the middle of moving. (staying in our building but moving up 18 floors to a bigger apartment...wahoo!) Needless to say life has been a little busy. :)

When we flew out on June 3rd we decided to try out the Northwest flight directly from Tokyo to SLC. We had no idea we were on the inaugural flight. There was a ribbon cutting ceremony and everything. When we arrived in SLC we were greeted with T-shirts and saltwater taffy. :) We loved being able to fly straight to SL. It was so so so nice not to have a lay over in San Francisco. Graham did really great on both flights. I can't complain. He's turning into quite the traveler.

There will be more updates coming on our lovely trip to Utah.
